Why????

Okay I am not trying to be disrespectful to any of the leaders at my church but I have to talk about this. Yesterday my church fired the Children's paster (lets call him Max) who is a very good friend of mine. Well the reason that they said that they fired him was for failing to comply with staff policies. This is the stupid thing. Max didn't understand that he had to pay all of his 10% of tithe to our church. He felt that God had called him to give some to other ministries. Well the leaders at the church had told him before that he needed to stop tithing elsewhere and give it all to the church. But there was a miscommunication and Max didn't understand what they wanted. Max is shy and doesn't like confrontation. So he didn't ask what they meant exactly. So now due to miscommunication we have lost him. He didn't even tell them yesterday that he hadn't understood before what they wanted of him. He just took it and walked out. He doesn't even get to say goodbye to the kids that he works with. I hate this. Everyone who knows Max knows that the church leaders just made one of the worst mistakes that they could ever make. He has a heart for kids and he is good with them. He knows every single kid in our church. And that is well over 150. I think a lot of people are going to quit going to this church because of this. I am sick to my stomach over this. I am completely numb inside. I can't even give him a hug right now cause I am 3 states away cause of my job. Why did they have to do this? If any of you pray please pray for Max and his wife. They will need all the prayers they can get in this difficult time.

 • That's awful. It's really not fair that they make him give al his tithes to that church. It's not all about that church really, and then they fire him? I will pray. Sorry!

 • Wow. My old church did that about a year ago. Our youth/chorus leader knew the entire youth group (about 40 kids), loved everyone, got along with everyone, made everyone's day brighter. They fired him for no reason other than they needed 'change'. To me, that's not being a real church family. If you can fire someone that's been a part of the church for nearly 30 years just because you want someone new to fill their shoes, what the hell kind of church are you? Our youth group dropped to about 10 kids and the sanctuary is nearly empty on Sunday mornings now.

That's truly horrible about Max. Maybe you should find out what church he'll be attending and follow. That's what we did. [:

Yeah everyone loves Max. Personally I think my youth paster did this. He doesn't get along with Max and he always gets his way. He did this to one other person last year. Everyone loved that person and really connected to him. Well what do you know but a few weeks later. Poof! He's gone. It's sad to say but I'm not connected to my youth paster. I know we have a big youth group Over 150 since ours is like the only youth group on Wed. now in our town. But I have been there since it was just 15 people. He should know me better and talk to me. But what do I get? A hey every now and then when he passes me in the hallways. I consider my main paster Max. Not even Ron our senior paster. I usually stay upstairs with the kids and barely ever go downstairs for service. I have a feeling that this Sunday when they make the announcement that a lot of people are going to quit going and never come back. And I don't blame them. Max is what made the children's ministries what they should be. But none of the pasters at our church seems to get that the children are very important. They are just shoved to the back burner. We have tried to get a decent sound board, some better mics, and some speakers that work without screeching constantly. But of course its considered way to much and they will consider it at a later date. But what does the youth group get? Brand new everything. New $2,000 lights, new sound systems, new computers. It just plain sucks. This church was awesome when it first started. Truthfully before Matt came along and took over the youth group. But now its not really a church anymore. At least it doesn't feel like it too me.

Yea my mom and dad want to leave and attend somewhere else and are very interested in where Max will be attending. My only problem is my boyfriend goes to my church. But he is also thinking about attending another church. I really hope that he decides to go the same church as me though. I don't want that to be the main reason why I attend a certain church. But I don't want to have to start out all new without anyone I know beside me. Ya know what I mean?

 • :? That's really wierd. Basically the same thing is going on at our church (except they had a reason to fire him, and my church is really nice) and the guy's name was Max. heheheh

I know same here. When you think everything is going perfect and you know some people really well. Boom! they make you realize you didn't know them as well as you thought you did. Thanks Chibi.
Yeah thats sad but it is the truth. I learned a lot this summer with a fight with a friend how wrong things can go just for some stupid reason.

 • That's rotten and selfish =/ The money shouldn't need to go to that church. As long as Max is doing what he was called to do, that should be great. I'll pray for him. Hope everything works out!

yeah. I think a lot of people are going to be finished with the church here soon. But some may not cause they probably are going to smear Max's name. Which totally sucks but not much I a teenager can do about it. Thanks for your prayers.

 • Well Triss, when church leaders don't listen to the voice of God and just listen to themselves and what they want, things usually don't go over so well. Remember the thoughts of God are not like our thoughts.

My old church did that to our Youth Pastor. Youth was amazing.. it wasn't really Youth more like young adults, but it was soo fun, until our YP got kicked out. His wife left him and a few months after that started seeing this woman, and my Pastor made him quit since he wasn't "officially" divorced. I thought that was a little lame. The church kind of went down hill from there. As far as I know, he was asked to step down from Pastoring and now others lead that church. Sad eh, well that's what happens. Grr.

I hope Max and his family will realize that it wasn't his fault, but ... well you know whose.

That has been what my mom has been saying. Our church used to have an awesome leadership team. You could see God just moving people. But they had some people step down and added new people. Hopefully this will be a wake up call for them and they will realize that they need to stop playing "God Junior".

Thanks. Yes I am pretty sure Max knows that. I am going home tomorrow to see him and give him a hug and then flying back to my job.
