Braces.

-sigh- I'mma get braces as soon as my teeth are taken out. I haveta take 4 teeth out at 9 in the morning tomorrow. LOVELY. xD It's so scary. I don't care about getting braces - it's the numb shot that scares the crap outta me. when I was little my dentist had to STRAP ME DOWN to give me a numb shot. So. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow since I gotta get four of the nasty little things. >__> Aynone else have to take out teeth for their braces? xD

ouuu, darn bluey. that must suck. i must say, i've always wanted braces. and i have to agree with you. I hate the numb shots. absolutely hate them. when i get a cut or something and have to get stitches, i'd rather not have the numb shot. but ah well, it wears off.

Yesss... I had impacted something or another.. They had to be pulled before my braces -which I get off Thursday!! YES!- I had the numb shot too. It was evil.. Except I had 5, and by the third one I couldn't feel it anymore xD

Really? xD You've WANTED braces? o_o I've been dreading them ever since 7th grade ended. xDDD omg, numb shots.are.torture. what is up with shots?! XD Ugh I've never gotten stitches.

LMAO. FIVE?! how did you endure the pain?! xD Lol. I really hope I can't feel them at all. Maybe I should drift off to sleep and dream about something stupid. xD

ha ha, I'm not really sure why I want them. I think it's because nothing ever happens to me. I never have broken bones, never had glasses. I've only had stitches once and it wasn't that bad. I just feel like I'm too safe. :/ eh. don't know. i have to get my shots soon, like the uh...ha. i don't even remember what it is called. thheeee uh, whatevers you get usually in high school or when you are in sports. :D yah. those. if you know what i'm talking about.

five, wowwoahweeah. and i suppose you didn't feel it anymore after the third one. ha. i sure hope you wouldn't of.

_________________________________ when i got stitches and the numb shots were inserted into my foot, the doctor went to start putting the stitches in and i could feel it still. it wasn't completely numb. i could feel the hook penetrating through my skin - it felt soo weird. the pain was slight.

Haha, I'm so happyyy!! They are the most eevil things of my life. Yes, five xD But since I couldn't feel the last three, it wasn't that bad.. o.O I hate stitches. You never get completely numb you can still feel pressure. So it's the weirdest feeling ever. Eh, I'm getting creepy-crawlies just thinking about it. xD

Yeah.. I hear you lose lots of weight when you get braces. [looking forward to that. XDD] But I will -hate- brushing my teeth after every meal.. maybe just skip lunch at school. xD Anyone have head gear with their braces? o:

AHH. Okay. Braces are NOT as bad as people say, you don't drop pounds like flies, and you don't have to brush your teeth any more than you normally do (just -better- than you normally do). People say things about braces that are just annoying. >. Your permanent teeth grow under your baby teeth for a reason, they eat at the root of the baby tooth to make them loose so they come out easily. My permanent teeth didn't grow in the right way, so they didn't make my baby teeth loose. I had every single tooth pulled out by a dentist. The 'numbing shot', as you put it, is called novocaine. ;] And if you don't like the shots, you can ask them to give you nitrous oxide (laughing gas) before they give you the shot, it calms you down enough to where you don't feel the shot. I had a severe under bite, my top jaw was smaller than my bottom one, and your top teeth are supposed to fit nicely over your bottom teeth. My top jaw fit nicely inside my bottom one. I had an expander put in. They attach it to your back teeth and it makes like a bridge across the roof of your mouth, and it has a little hole in the middle. You crank that hole twice a day and it -expands- your top jaw, hence the name. I had that for 6 months, along with braces. Then I finally got that off, got another set of braces put on. I had my top 'canine' teeth pulled, and 2 years later there was still no permanent teeth in place of them. They were impacted in the roof of my mouth, parallel to my tongue, above the bone. I had to go in, they numbed me. By this time, I've built up a resistance to novocaine, and I won't stay numb. They had to RE-NUMB me 15 times during this 2 hour procedure and I was AWAKE. They had to drill through the roof of my mouth and attach little brackets with chains on them, make a path through the skin in the roof of my mouth, and the chain came out of my gums in the front of my mouth where the tooth should be and attached to the wire in my braces. Every time I went in to the orthodontist, they had to tug and pull on them with elastic to pull the tooth into place. I had over 50 stitches in the roof of my mouth. And had those chains there until the teeth came in almost a year later. Finally, I've got all my permanent teeth. Had braces for 3 years after that surgery, and I finally get them off September of my freshman year in high school. I thought I was done. No. I had a tooth that was smaller than the one on the other side, and my orthodontist (who was also my mom's boss at the time) left a small space so he could add bonding to the tooth to make it look like the other one. He never did, and when my retainer stopped fitting he told me the tooth had moved and I needed ANOTHER set of braces to fix it, or eventually my bottom teeth would knock it out because they were hitting when I bit. So, I got another set of braces fall of my sophomore year in high school. I had that set for 6 months. I got the final (thank God) set of braces off in March of my sophomore year. I ALWAYS wanted braces, I didn't want them because everyone had them or because I'd never had anything like that, my teeth looked horrible and I wanted them to look good. I've been to hell and back with my mouth, we've put more than $50000 worth of work into it, but you know what? It was worth it. I have gorgeous teeth now, and it's all because of cosmetic dentistry. The only reason I got to have ANY of it done was because my mom worked for the orthodontist, we never would have been able to afford it otherwise. It was all free. So, you know, don't complain about getting braces, because in all honesty, it's a privilege. There are a lot of people that would -kill- and go through hell to have pretty teeth, and just can't afford it. I got lucky. I'll be honest, you're probably gonna hate them, but take care of them. Don't complain, don't mess them up. Some of the things they tell you that you can't eat, you can, just BE CAREFUL (like popcorn

), the only reason they tell you those things is because you could knock a bracket off or not brush well enough and it can cause issues. BRUSH WELL!!! I can't stress that enough, if you don't brush well enough, your gums will swell around you braces and you'll have to have them cut back, which would suck. It's all worth it in the end. Trust me. ;] Sorry about my preaching.. I don't play around when it comes to teeth, as you can tell I've been through a lot with my own and I hate when people take it for granted that they can afford it and just don't appreciate it. >.<

I know, I've used laughing gas before, but it's never helped. xD -sigh- o_o omg. I know I was born with some teeth missing.. it's called "sarang teeth" in Korean, but I don't know what it is in English... they're supposed to be at the way back, I think they're wisdom teeth, might not be.

Just glad that they don't get in the way of my braces.

My teeth are disgusting, too, they're all... unlined. xD But $50,000? O_O Wow. I'm just afraid of GETTING the braces. cause I think it might hurt. xD I'm just not gonna eat what they tell me NOT to eat, cause it's mostly choclate and stuff. I need to stay away from those things. xDD I'm sorry, Oats. I do appreciate the fact that even though these things will cost like $4000 plus extra costs, like around $900 more, so I know what financial costs it will take.

Probably wisdom teeth. :P I only have 3, which I need to have removed before they start to form roots.

$50,000 on everything, not just braces. xD But yea. And braces don't hurt -all the time-, just when you get wires changed. And if you take whatever you take for a headache (Advil, Tylenol, Motrin, etc) about 30 minutes before an appointment, and keep it in your system for a day or two after, you should be fine. It hurts, but it's not unbearable.

They'll tell you not to eat popcorn, gooey candy (taffy, gummy bears/worms, etc), things with nuts in them (chocolate bars with almonds, almond m&ms, peanut brittle, etc) and not to drink a ton of sugary drinks mainly because you'll either not brush enough and your teeth will rot or knock a bracket off that will have to be replaced, which, trust me you don't want to do. A bracket costs an orthodontic office about $10-$15 depending on what your ortho uses, and they'll charge you $75-$100 for a new bracket.

All my friends lived off of yogurt and bread for the first few days when they first got their wire in. xD

 $50,000 on everything, not just braces. xD But yea. And braces don't hurt -all the time-, just when you get wires changed. You don't have to have them removed, but if they grow in, there's just not enough room in most peoples' mouth and they move all your other teeth around and can cause a lot of pain. And yea, a good thing to have is jello, PB&J, yogurt and ice cream.

I had to have 4 taken out too! It SUCKS! and actually after they swab your mouth with the numbing stuff it really doesn't hurt all that bad, I could barely feel it. Of course after I almost dies choking on MY tooth that THEY dropped in my mouth I was a little scared, and your lip feels fat after you get the shots. It sucks when you can hardly even drink...lol

Just came back. -__- 6 shots. SIX. not four. SIX. xD didn't hurt though. it's just that I can't drink anything now. My lips are too fat and the gauze is in the way. -sigh-

I hope you feel better soon. I need braces but I'll probably never get them. Which is kinda ok with me. My little brother has a train wreck in his mouth. He has like 6 extra teeth for some reason stuck up in his gums that need to come out. I hate the numbing shot too. I HATE needles and they always pass them right in front of me. The last tooth that needed worked on they said would need a numbing shot but thats cause they might get too close to the nerve. I asked if I could skip the shot and just deal with it and they let me. It hurt only the last 2 times they drilled. Hopefully you don't have any problems with your braces and your teeth will be very pretty and nice when they come off. :P
