• I'm trying to tone my stomach more, so basically a healthy diet (warning, if you have sugar/caffine addiction it will be hard.) and regular walks, and look online for simple excersices or in books. It can go a long way.
I usually don't use workout equipment - oh, and I would also like to say that I read that crunches can cause bad poster and I think it was a bad back as well.
Good luck, don't give up once you start - I know I want to. >.> xD
  • Ive been working on it on and off for about two years now. Ill stick to it for about 2 or 3 months and then I just gradually get lazy and stop. And then I get a health bug up my butt again and try to start over xD I dont have an addiction to sugar or caffine. I dont really eat a lot of candy or drink a lot of cokes or anything. I like to have Starbucks and Monsters every now and then, but I dont think thats an addiction. I dont crave it or anything.

I have 4 machines, which Ive actually seen results with. But too bad I got them from my gramma and there old. Which means 3 of them fell apart, which is another reason I dont have the willpower. Its boring. And I dont have anywhere to walk since I live on a very busy street. And all my friends are those people who can sit around and eat all day and drink Mountain Dew like theres no tomorrow and never work out. And they loose weight. Im like what the heck xD

  • Lmao.
Do you have a tredmill? Or a fitness center nearby?

Since I am going to be 18 this coming up year I want to be fit when I am like in 70's, because I started early. 8)
The bad thing is, all my mom buys is junk food ever since I was little and I have a major addiction.

And my weight is going faster before my body can fill in....-sigh- guys have it so easy. xD
  • I would say the biggest thing that keeps me active..
Is having a workout buddy.
OR being terribly in love with my poor old horse who couldn't carry me if I was any fatter xD
I did crunches for a looong time and they do do a number on your back.
D'you have an elliptical?
Cause treadmills can be hard on the old knees.

  • I have a site for you! I'll PM it.

A big part of it is your diet. You really don't have to work out to lose weight. And it doesn't mean starving yourself either.

Exercise would obviously make it go faster, but if it's a harder option for you, not really needed.
I'll PM you a good health site, where you can easily track your calories and all your nutrition info for the day. It'll take your age, weight, height, how much exercise you get approximately each day, and then it will have you set a goal of how much weight you want to lose per week, and then it will tell you how many calories you need to consume in a day. It's pretty handy. xDD
And it's not really diet either.. you can still eat normally. But a big thing to do us cut down on snacking. You'll be really hungry at first, but soon your body adjusts and you're not. And at first, don't cut it out all together. Or even at all, if you don't want to. Eat light foods that are low in calories. Mainly fruits and veggies. lmao

Also! If you do exercise, it will tell you how many calories you burned.

Thanks for the lovely banner, Nickel :)
  • :o Thanks Snookly bear. It just seems to me to matter what I eat it goes right to my thighs anyway..so by use of Cybe-logic, working out will help. And plus, I like working out xD

  • AHAHAH!
Eww this machine made me hot and sweaty!

Cyve should swim laps. Find a beginner work out program and work your way up. The easiest way for me to lose weight and tone up is by joining a team, because then I'm commited.

  • lol. the rating/review was epic. xD
and I've found that taekwondo has done oodles for me. =D
I haven't lost much wait..actually I think I gained a little....But nonetheless, I look like I weigh less. I've gained muscle, but I've also lost fat. e.e The weight I did gain was because of gaining more muscle and not losing almost double the muscles in fat. x.x
But the only reason I haven't really lost anything, is because I don't eat right. xD I mean, every once and awhile someone will buy me something extremely high in sugar, carbs, etc etc and I'll end up eating, coz I haven't had it for awhile. lol and the fact that I eat crap for breakfast (sometimes a few frozen kit-kats, sometimes french toast, sometimes waffles, etc etc..you get the point. x.x ), I skip lunch because it's deadly at the school (I'm dead serious about this..last year and the beginning of this year it made me sick most of the time...and they put these chemical things in it to make it so our stomachs feel like they're full. D: ) and then I eat dinner..which is usually a frozen meal. x.-
But the point of what I'm trying to say is: any martial art builds muscle and helps you lose unwanted fat, but you have to eat healthy too..not like me. lol. and martial arts also build balance, a stong sense of self-confidence and teach you to be humble and not cocky. >.>' (which I have a problem with..I'm not cocky, but I'm one of the least humble people you'll ever meet. xD )

  • :P I'm in the military so physical fitness is like forcibly amongst my top priorities ahaha. One word: push ups. They are the ultimate workout because they burn fat from every part of your body (if you do them correctly). I have a lot of workouts I could share with you if you'd like! In our physical health/nutrition class, we figured up the average number of calories we eat in one day and the number we need to take in each day. If you figure out how many you need per day based on your activity level/height/weight then subtract 500 from that number. I'll find that equation for figuring your daily calorie needs if you don't know it ;)

  • german should pm me that little equation thingy too. =D lol
and I totally agree with the pushups.. I can do 25 good ones and then they start looking like crap. xD But I am working on it..
>.>
<.<
>.<

  •

-Basically, just change your diet. Allll the sweet foods you love, try to cut back. Which sucks but it helps!

-Drink milk and water as your main beverage

-Go for a run every day you can, as long as you want. Usually at least two miles to get the calories burning off

-Every morning and night do at least twenty push-ups, or however many you can! Do this as well as about 100 sit-ups or crunches to tone your stomach

Good luck xD

  • My only excercise source would be... my dogs =P

I love to run with them and play tag in the yard, lol. Other than that, I'm as lazy as can be =P (I'm one of those types that is super lazy, eats a lot, and still stays skinny though...) I dunno how I do it. I feel like I should be way overweight, but I'm at a perfect weight.

Sadly, it will probably catch up with me... and sadly, my mom buys only junk food for us (though I could totally live of veggies and fruits if we had em)

But! When I did work out, one of those medicine ball things or whatever... those are amazing. You can do so much with them. I'm sure there's a website out there that has exercises you can do with em. I had fun with it when I had one available

  • ;)

Swimming is the best, full body work-out.
It doesnt put stress on your joints.
+ its good cardio, cause you gotta learn how to breath right.

If you're into running, make sure you have the right shoes. The cartilage in your knees can get badly damaged from all the high-impact.

I, sadly, dont work out. Which is why I probably have the worst muffin top ever. I do go surf and swim during the summer, which tones me for the few months I'm out there.

The main this is to try and stay within your caloric intake. Going over will mean weight gain. Oh, and fat cells cannot be killed. Well, they can... but then they come back faster. o_o Yea... :)

  • Maybe you guys are doing the crunches wrong if they are hurting your back. But even so, crunches aren't a very good way to build up anything or lose weight. You can do 10 zillion crunches per day, and never see your abs.

Me...

Walking. I live in a very very hilly place so walking up/down the street 100 meters is a workout in itself.

Dancing. I bought a Hula dance workout and it's really really fun, its aerobic so it is a cardio workout. It builds all your muscle, but if you're a girl, it keeps it long and toned, not bulky.

Weight lifting. I do love weights, heavy weights. I'm 6'1" so I'd rather not look like a noodle weakling for the rest of my life. It also builds bone strength and helps your posture.

I'm being a hypocrite because I haven't done any of those in a few weeks. I'm very lazy.

Then.. for me, eating everything except bread, crackers, rice, and sugary foods helps me lose weight really quickly, even if I don't exercise. The thing is, I DO have an addiction to "carbs" which is lame but eating fresh veggies and fruits helps kick the habit in about 3 days.

Also, caffeinated coffee increases appetite. Diet drinks contain a chemical that releases the appetite hormone.

So basically stay away from anything that won't do any good for you, and keep your heart rate up for about 20 minutes a day and you're good.

  • ^^ Agreed with Reina, crunches are pointless...unless you do them using a ball. But even then, they don't do much..
Reina is 6'1?! You're almost exactly a foot taller than me! LOL!
