2-3 Weeks...?! D:

A week ago, I went to the pet store looking for some ratties.

I was so excited.

And then, they told us they were supposed to get them in 2-3 days and weren't sure why they hadn't already gotten them. Well, okay. Waiting a few days isn't bad, I'd have more time to prepare, right? Right. (And indeed I did prepare =P) So we called every day to ask if maybe they'd come in.

Nope, they hadn't. So my mommy called them while she was at work today, and they said, "I don't know why, but we're not getting them in until 2-3 weeks..." When my mother told me that, I think I died a little bit.

2-3 weeks?! ...but that's such a long time when you're acting like an excited little kid waiting for Christmas! Dx I guess I can get a few more things done while I'm waiting, but I'm just so happy/excited to meet my two new rats and now I have to wait quite a bit longer than they initially told me. AND, what really makes me mad is they don't know why they're not getting any in until then.

...the breeder is local, so wtf is up with that? Urgh. -waits impatiently-

I wouldn't get them from a petstore. Mine turned out blind. The other one I got from the petstore was in -terrid- condition. He had fleas, poo clumping to his tail, was impacted, and died just after I had time to get attatched. Look on craigslist for breeders. Google works too. Just my suggestion. I'd ask for the breeder's phone number and contact them personally. They might have a baby ready, just a different age than the petstore has ordered. And it's much better if you can get the baby from the breeder before it has the chance to be around other rats in the petstore and possibly pick up diseases, get pregnant(the petstore and even breeders make gender mistakes), or pick up mites/fleas. Good luck, you'll be better off waiting. You DO NOT want an unweened baby, especially if you go to public school. I was blessed with a small unweened baby and it's been amazing, but I wouldn't suggest it to anyone with a social life/school schedule. xD Actually, you couldn't feed a baby on a school schedule. You have to feed it every two hours. But what happened with Tar: The pet store ordered one baby rat, thinking it was weened. Well, it wasn't. Mom's friend that works at the pet store called me, since I'd just gotten my lone rat three days earlier. And I don't have to get up for a job or school, so it was perfect. Wow. There are NO breeders around here, I can guarantee you that...

So I have no choice but the pet store unfortunately, otherwise I would TOTALLY go with a breeder, no doubt at all. I know that it's good to wait, but it's just so damn hard! xD I definitely don't want an unweened baby, because I have 6 hours of school Monday to Friday and a social life on the side. o_o

Did you check at your local humane society? A lot of rats and mice go the shelter and then get put to sleep because no one thinks to check there D; I know before I got Jasper, I checked there all the time, but mine doesn't get a lot of rats.

Both my shelters don't take any animals other than cats or dogs. It's ridiculous. But yeah, even though they only take dogs and cats, I still checked.

Your mom ordered you with a social life?! xD I have no social life... other than vp and Justin, but Justin loves rats and took Tar one night when I needed to sleep. xD

You don't have girlfriends you have sleepovers with and hang out with boys? xD I am obsessed with all of that. If I don't have enough social activity, I GO NUTS, haha!

I hang out with one boy. That's Justin. He'd do anything for me. But no, no girlfriends. They're too emotional and girly.

xD Tell me about it. :roll: One of mine is . . . but the other two are downright awesome.

xD My one best friend is, like, the best! She's never overemotional and we can talk about everything. And, we get through things easily and move on quickly. Then there's another one of my friends who overreacts and stays emotional for long periods of time.

< That, I HATE. Get over it, life moves on. xD OH. Strayed away from the original topic. =p

Waiting sucks. I had to wait a weekend to get my rabbit. It killed me only for two days! 20 days id be taking to a room with nice soft walls xD

Arg, I'm now in the same boat as you with the little pom I adopted! I thought I was going to go crazy for the initial 2 weeks they said I would be stuck waiting, but now he has kennel cough and is still not neutered. Now I'll most likely be stuck waiting an additional 4 weeks on top of the 1 that I've already waited.
