Rofl!
Her and my cat are the only animals I have ever treated like a human. XD
I'm feeding her a medicated starter feed and it's making her "go" all over the place, but it keeps her rid of diseases.
Hehe. That's good.
... I wish I had a spoiled Chick.

Get one. XD
Kirby was only $2.50. 8DD
The only expensive thing is a chicken coop, but I am gonna make one instead of buying one. Other than that they are easy keepers.
I'll try to convince my mom. xD
Is it going to grow into a chicken? xD
I love your sig.

Maybe. o.o xD

I would get at least 2, because they are flock birds. Lucky for me my grandma has 3 hens. If you only get one they tend to cry a lot and get attached to humans quickly...well, Kirby did. But, she has to go in the coop in a few weeks when she's bigger.
And, thanks! I'm prolly gonna change it in a min. XD
Kirby got her first white feather today.
I also tried determining her/his gender by venting, I saw a small bump but I am still not sure 100% sure, so I guess I will wait.
Thank you!

I'm 75% sure Kirby is a little baby rooster...his comb is getting bigger and vented him like 4 times and found a little bump every time.

If anyone else wants to guess the gender feel free to. XD

I was going to say a baby boy too. It's come is pretty big for the age. Of my four chicks, I think two of them are cockerels for the same reason.
My two hens had combs about that big when they were a bit under a week old. Funny enough, it was our rooster that had the smallest comb of the three. We didn't know he was a rooster til he woke my parents up several times trying (and failing) to crow.
I think it all depends on the breed of the chicken, my grandmas pullets have a small comb - smaller than Kirby's and they are about 2-3 months old.
Plus, I've noticed his turning a little pinkish.
The only thing that's making me not 100% sure is the structure of his body, but I guess we will know in a few weeks.
Zagari, what breed are your chicks? I don't remember if you posted or not what breed they are. xD

His feathers are coming in more and more everyday.
They grow up so quickly, he's also becoming more independent - he follows me still but doesn't like being picked up as much.

Comb isn't as visible in the picture - I will have to take pictures of his comb tomorrow.

I plan on posting pics of them. I've just been too lazy to get them off my camera. lol

Two Rhode Island Reds, one Golden Comet, one meat pen.
Bantam Cochins are my favorite. I really like crested Polish too. I really want one bad! I have two Swedish ducklings as well as my chicks. My aunt bought two ducklings at the same time and one of her's is crested. No fair! lol
I had a crested polish. 8D
He was that rooster I mentioned earlier.
Black and white and... small and the hens beat him up.
And his crest was tiny and insignificant. xD
@Zagari-You so need to post pics. XD Crested polish's remind me of my cousin...because of the crazy hairdo. 8DD I checked Kirby's feet and his spurs are coming in. I'm thinking he might be older than I thought. XD

@Kazuko-Poor roo, but that sounds funny, chickens are weird. XD I wonder why he was so tiny. O-o
Okay, okay. lol As soon as I submit this post, I'll hook up my camera.

Photobucket always takes a while to load though, so it'll be a few. One of my baby RIRs died today. I'll post her story up in that thread.
That is the Redest/Pinkest thing i have ever seen

Keahi (means fire)
or topaz

They are dyed bright colors for Easter. Once they grow in their feathers in they are not the funny color anymore.

It's purely another attempt for people to make money (and not caring about the animals). It's like selling baby bunnies for Easter. Usually most of these bunnies and chicks are no longer wanted after a few weeks when they realize these animals actually need care. They are impulse buys and usually people don't realize what they are getting themselves into. Eventually most are dumped, killed or left to die in a cage in the backyard.

Besides that, I can't wait to see it grow! I love her little feathers coming in. They do grow up fast don't they? Don't they grow in their full feathers in a matter of a couple months? Or faster?
@Boz - Yes, these are to attract young children who have no idea what to do, especially in areas where farming isn't a main source. However, here mostly adults buy them and farming IS a main source. And since we are a farming area, the feed stores take good care of their critters.
Sometimes I think people blow the whole "dying" chicks concept out of proportion - I was told a few days ago that I was supporting animal abuse by buying this chick, however I had another person say that those who are bashing me are clearly hypocrites, because it's not any different than someone eating a chicken nugget. XD

He's a cockerel, so his feathers might take longer to come in - but the majority of them should be in my 4-5 weeks.
