Dude Pics :D

So..we went to Brady's Run and worked the horses in the arena on the gaming patterns while Mendi gave her lessons. I believe there are some videos of me and Dude running barrels, but not positive. Hopefully I'll be able to see them when I sleep over Mendi's friday night. :)
But after we got home Drew and I ended up walking almost a mile to herd a cow back to it's farm, ended up getting it in a pen by the guy's chicken coop and he said thanks, and had his son drive us back to Mendi's. He was actually kinda cute. :p
So I ended up tossin' Dude out in the round pen when we got back so that I could get pics of him. :)
We rinsed the horses off before we loaded them and took them home, so he actually looks pretty clean. xD
And sorry if this is huge on anyone's screen...I do apologize D:

<img src="http://i28.tinypic.com/f439sk.jpg"; alt="http://i28.tinypic.com/f439sk.jpg"; class="bb-image" />
I just started walking around and taking quick pictures (they ended up decent) because my batteries were dying. ;;
<img src="http://i29.tinypic.com/5v21cp.jpg"; alt="http://i29.tinypic.com/5v21cp.jpg"; class="bb-image" />
Not really happy with this one..I only like the grass and his head xD
<img src="http://i26.tinypic.com/2we9o3k.jpg"; alt="http://i26.tinypic.com/2we9o3k.jpg"; class="bb-image" />
He looks really wierd/awkward in this one... o.O
<img src="http://i29.tinypic.com/2cgg96d.jpg"; alt="http://i29.tinypic.com/2cgg96d.jpg"; class="bb-image" />
Just walking..I think I may use this one for a ref sometime..
<img src="http://i28.tinypic.com/317gwlh.jpg"; alt="http://i28.tinypic.com/317gwlh.jpg"; class="bb-image" />
I really need to do something to fix this one up..
I liked his pose, but I didn't even try to get the lighting right for fear I would miss it D:
<img src="http://i27.tinypic.com/531qo7.jpg"; alt="http://i27.tinypic.com/531qo7.jpg"; class="bb-image" />
I ended up catching him right after he was done peeing xD
thought it looked kinda cute though. :p
<img src="http://i28.tinypic.com/29fwgg.jpg"; alt="http://i28.tinypic.com/29fwgg.jpg"; class="bb-image" />
Thought his face looked cute. :p
<img src="http://i32.tinypic.com/2qa7mog.jpg"; alt="http://i32.tinypic.com/2qa7mog.jpg"; class="bb-image" />
His face looks rather awkward in this one, IMO. :3
<img src="http://i25.tinypic.com/2ytp9hx.jpg"; alt="http://i25.tinypic.com/2ytp9hx.jpg"; class="bb-image" />
I liked how shiney his coat was. :p
<img src="http://i31.tinypic.com/faoew6.jpg"; alt="http://i31.tinypic.com/faoew6.jpg"; class="bb-image" />
Thought it was pretty cute, not the best picture though. *shrugs*
<img src="http://i26.tinypic.com/34tc384.jpg"; alt="http://i26.tinypic.com/34tc384.jpg"; class="bb-image" />
Loved the pose, horrible picture though. It's really washed out and not really focused right. :|
<img src="http://i26.tinypic.com/23rs5rt.jpg"; alt="http://i26.tinypic.com/23rs5rt.jpg"; class="bb-image" />
This is probably my favourite out of all of them. <3
I absolutely love the muscle he's getting in his shoulders, now just for the hindend work. ;;

  • Vamp, he looks amazing. =] I'm not a big horse fan since bad childhood experiences but he looks great.

However, I came upon this post because...I thought you were posting of guys "Dude" pics. I was like O_o...What's this!? *wanders in* The pictures took awhile to load so I read the captions. I laughed when I read how he had muscles near the neck and just had to work on the hindend...how horribly great it is to misinterpret. Overall, besides the misunderstanding before the pictures loaded, they look good. =]

They both look great.
I'll definitely post them later when I get on the actual computer ;D

  • Well..these are all from yesterday. We went to Mendi's at 9.30h to make our dreamcatchers for Hookstown fair to decorate our stalls (I made one just because. I'll probably just let someone use it since it doesn't match Dude at all. xD
But anywho-after we were done, we all went up to the barn to ride.
Now mind you, I still have to vent about what happened with Brent/Dude at Round Up this weekend..Brent broke Dude. ;; So I kinda figured I'd have to fix some stuff yesterday before I even got on him.
Everyone that goes to the barn thinks Mendi should've let me have Dude for my project instead of Brent. Brent can't ride, and he had both himself, and Dude, looking like fools in the ring. :|
Dude could've placed in every one of those classes. Every one.
Brent got disqualified in all of them because all he did was sit on him, didn't guide him, didn't correct him, didn't practice with him before. >.<;;
So, I kind of figured Dude was going to have a huge attitude with me today. He did, and I've gotten much bolder and confident while on him since the time I saw him almost flip over on Mendi. Drew ended up complimenting me on how I corrected him and didn't just stay over by the round pen and work him so I wouldn't have to deal with his attitude, I used the whole top field/arena to ride him in, and most of it was done cantering or at a working trot, not at a walk like I started out trying to get him workable on the other side.
He ended up getting a sore on the side of his mouth though..I felt kinda bad, but I only have the curb bit to work with, and not a snaffle or anything. I usually only use leg cues and neck reining to back the cues up, but I ended up having to get his head to my foot and spin him so he didn't sidestep right over the hill. ._.
But anywho, no pictures of him undersaddle, coz I was riding. xD But we ended up putting him in the round pen and lunging him after we did Toby, so I could get some action shots ;D
I think he looks really pretty. :) He did end up kicking at me two or three times though..
Anyways, the pictures. :D

<img src="http://i36.tinypic.com/1y8v1k.jpg"; alt="http://i36.tinypic.com/1y8v1k.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i34.tinypic.com/34xkjv6.jpg"; alt="http://i34.tinypic.com/34xkjv6.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i37.tinypic.com/15qp548.jpg"; alt="http://i37.tinypic.com/15qp548.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i36.tinypic.com/15ft540.jpg"; alt="http://i36.tinypic.com/15ft540.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i33.tinypic.com/28vdmpy.jpg"; alt="http://i33.tinypic.com/28vdmpy.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i34.tinypic.com/ohr4og.jpg"; alt="http://i34.tinypic.com/ohr4og.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i34.tinypic.com/1zvqx07.jpg"; alt="http://i34.tinypic.com/1zvqx07.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i35.tinypic.com/28qz0nn.jpg"; alt="http://i35.tinypic.com/28qz0nn.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i37.tinypic.com/e96vpj.jpg"; alt="http://i37.tinypic.com/e96vpj.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i36.tinypic.com/6fmtcz.jpg"; alt="http://i36.tinypic.com/6fmtcz.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i36.tinypic.com/t5hijp.jpg"; alt="http://i36.tinypic.com/t5hijp.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i38.tinypic.com/x1ym3b.jpg"; alt="http://i38.tinypic.com/x1ym3b.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i34.tinypic.com/2141st3.jpg"; alt="http://i34.tinypic.com/2141st3.jpg"; class="bb-image" />

<img src="http://i37.tinypic.com/ojmedj.jpg"; alt="http://i37.tinypic.com/ojmedj.jpg"; class="bb-image" />
And just because, here's Drew runnin' around on his pony, Toby. :D
Thanks, Sushi. :)
I wish I had the money to buy him, I definitely would. <3
I think he's the prettiest coloured horse at the barn, lol.

  • He's so nice looking!
I love his color x3 I'm a sucker for palominos.

Too bad his back is slightly swayed though :(

Yeah..I asked Drew if he thought he had a slight sway back. He hesitated, then said no. You could tell he had no clue what I was talking about. Stupid. xD The only thing he does better than me is know how to stay on better, but-I am catching up to him in that skill. xD
Thanksies. <3
I actually think he's registered as chestnut with flaxen mane and tail though. xD
I like pallys too. <3 I want one, lol.
    az7051.jpg<3
  • Yeah, there's lots of arguments as to what colors he could be.

Some consider sorrels to be the brown/red with a flaxen mane, and limit chestnuts to horses that a brown/red with the darker manes.. some say chestnuts are more brown and sorrels red, and then there's always arguments to if they're palomino or chestnut or sorrel lmao There's so many different standards. I'm not even sure where my opinion lies. I used to think that sorrels where the more red horses.. but after reading on it and seeing all the different variations of opinions I'm not entirely sure anymore.

His back is definitely swayed, but it's not severe.

And I love palomino's too. <3 And paints.. and buckskins and duns. lmao They're so much easier to pick out of a herd. I always use a paint horse to find Megan, because she's always with her. Much easier to find the paint as oppose to my sorrel haha

    Thanks for the lovely banner, Nickel :)
  • Buckskins and duns are probably my favourite out of all the colours...along with grullas/roans as seconds/thirds. :p
Yeah, I wish his back was nice and straight like Toby's. :3 But I'll just have to deal, as will he, lol.
He always slides the saddle too far back because I guess it sits more comfortably on him?
I always have to get off and pull it back up because he gets the pad all the way back behind his withers, and then his breast collar is too tight, and D: It's so frustrating. xD

  • Do you tighten the cinch after 10 minutes of riding? Often a horse will bloat their stomach with air when saddled, because they know that it won't be as tight lmao
So after you ride/lead them for a bit, tighten again to avoid it being looser than it should be.

Because, it's really best if the saddle is further ahead. He'll be able to respond better to your seat, rather than it mainly being leg and rein aids.
    12.png
    Thanks for the lovely banner, Nickel :)
  • , normally I lead whoever for a few minutes before I get on so if something is bothering them I can catch it then before they try to chuck me offf xD
he's been really good about it lately though, so I've just been hopping on when we're ready to go. I
check where the..thing yu tighten in order to cinch it lays on his stomach, and it's usually right where it would be when I first started riding him and had to retighten it, lol.
I'm thinking it's because I cinch him slower now, as opposed to when Mendi did it and cinched him up real tight before she finished any of his other tack, because he's bloated the first time and by the third time I tighten it it's right where it should be. :3
yeah..I think I'm going to leave the saddle higher up on his withers next time I ride him and not bring it back until right before I get on. he's still learning the legs and seat cues. ;; he was an all rein horse undersaddle before since he was never actually trained undersaddle, only as a cart horse. I think he's doing rather well though :p and I'm working on his neck reining...he's not too great with it yet (but will do some when reinforced with leg cues) but I don't want to have to keep d-reining him because she only has a curb for him D: which is a nightmare, coz I feel soo bad when He has a fit and I have to crank his nose to my foot and spin him to calm him down *flops*
