My body is not cooperating!

edited August 2010 in Vent
Okay, so not to long ago I vented about tearing a calf muscle, which took a good 10 days or so to heal(longer than I though it would). About 2-3 days ago I started getting weird ankle pain. Keep in mind I've been pretty much off my feet due to my calf, so I'm lost as to why I suddenly started getting the pain. Yesterday, I decided to try exercising again, since I felt my calf was finally healed, but could only go 5 minutes before I had to stop. Tried wrapping my ankle for support, and putting on shoes with better support, but that didn't help. I iced all day, then soaked my ankles in my family's spa for 15 minutes(giving my mom company while she soaked), and then iced before bed. My right ankle feels better(little pain), but there is no improvement in the left ankle, and I think there is a little bruising.

...I'm not going to lie...I wrapped it up and briskly walked(I normally run), even though I shouldn't have, because it's just driving me insane that I was already kept from exercising for a good 10 days due to my calf. It's so frustrating that my body is not cooperating at the moment. Grrrr.

So any ideas on why my ankles seem to hurt for no reason?

 • Gastrocnemius muscle ( Calf Muscle) is also connected to your Achilles tendon which enables you to move your ankle and foot. When your calf muscle is torn you may get pains in your ankle and lower leg. Your muscle sounds like a Grade two tear which means that 50-90% of your muscle fibers were torn. When this happens there can be pain when you walk and can hurt for more than a week. If you still want to walk during this time you could try wearing a heel pad in both of your shoes. A heel pad raises your heel and therefor contracts your calf muscle, which then take some of the strain off of your foot. Trying using the R.I.C.E technique. ( Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation)
It's not the Achilles tendon that's hurting. You know the bump on your ankle? It hurts in front of that, and on both feet. I guess it might be more the top of the foot and less the ankle, but I do feel some of the pain in the joint.
It's not my foot, but that's where most of the pain is on both feet.
<img src="http://i36.tinypic.com/11l2dg1.png"; alt="http://i36.tinypic.com/11l2dg1.png"; class="bb-image" />
The calf muscle is completely healed, and was only torn on one leg, so this shouldn't be related to it.
I was thinking it might be the normal ankle/top of foot pain runners can get, but why would it pop up while I was resting for so long?

 • The weird thing is that I went back to running, and my feet are feeling better. It makes no sense.
I think it was just tendinitis or maybe I've inherited my mom's arthritis. I dunno, but I'm glad it's gone.

 • That's good that it's gone. :)
It could have just needed some stretching or something.
