you should be able to choose how long an event has till it can run ... as sometimes i have events i need run right away and i cant i have to wait till the next day.
The reason there is a 24 hour waiting period is so players are less likely to be able to fill their own events and run them with no competition.
well when you want to see what dogs are best out of yours and your friends you want it to go as soon as they are entered so no one else enters their dogs
That's not the point of event tho'. Just like real dog shows, it shouldn't be limited to you and your closest bud. Makes it unfair for everyone. I'm against this because people would abuse it to go higher in ranking, and to rake in the extra cash- what if you entered ONLY your dogs. You're going to get cash for every placement possible, and that's just not coo'.
yeah but you should like be able to choose a time like from 5-48 hours for an event to be run....as sometimes you cant get on for a while to run them.
I think if there are any time changes, it should be the option to increase the amount of time it takes to run an event. Afterall, sometimes you can't get on for a while to run them. ;D So have a drop down of like. 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, 4 days, 5 days, with 5 being the max.
As Kazuko says, it would be unfair to other players to only run them for yourself and/or your friends. The 24 hour waiting period is a reasonable time to give other players a chance to enter events without making the hosts wait a week or something so a majority of players can enter. Most people log on at least once in a 24 hour period normally. Some can only log on on the weekends.

If you want just your friends, I'd suggest making a club and creating club events. If you are just wanting to compare your dogs to your friend's, you can do that in open competition by seeing who places highest.

As soon as your events are 24 hours old, as long as they have 10 entries, you can run them, or you can wait for 48 hours or 72, whatever you wish. Ops won't run them before -4 days unless they are full and no one else can enter. Anything less than 10 requires an Op to review to make sure there are at least 2 different players entered so it is a competition and not someone, as Kazuko also pointed out, creating events and only entering their dogs to rake in all the money.
oh ok ... i thought you only had to have 4 dogs to run an event?
For a player to run them, they must have at least 10 entries. For an Op to run them, they must have at least 4, from two different players. That's why less than 10 requires us to look at them before running.

It was four for players to run them as well, but it didn't let you run them if it was only your dogs in it. I had tons of times where I had to find someone else to throw a dog in so I could run mine since the events weren't popular at certain times. Unless this was changed.

I agree, though, that 24 hours is just fine. IF by chance your event filled up before 24 hours, THEN there could be an option for you to run it before having to wait for the 24 hours, but that event is very unlikely, so it really wouldn't be worth the time to add that on.
All good things must come to an end. All endings will begin new good things.
I asked admin1 to clarify and he says being able to run an event with only 4 dogs is a glitch. Players should not be able to run with less than 10 and doing so will be considered exploiting a glitch and that's against the terms of service. He's trying to fix it so it won't happen, but until then, please do not run events if you don't have at least 10 dogs entered in any event hosted by you.

It must have four for Ops to run, otherwise the event gets deleted. And that's why I posted this publicly, so people know. People who continue to do it will, of course, get a warning, whether they frequent the forums or not before they actually get into trouble.

Exactly.. and sometimes my events are lucky to get even 8 dogs... so I have to wait for days so an OP has to run them? It was never clarified as being ten ever in the years I've been playing this game =/ Has always been four, but it's always been so that there has to be at least one dog that is not your own.

But I'm trying to say is its been like that since Nef owned vp and I've always ran mine at 4 dogs
[ cause i only event one at time to lazy to o more ]

And then its not fair for us to get in trouble for things that we have been able to do.
it has ALWAYS told me it only needs to be four to be ran.
Never said anything about an op to run them you need four.
It says it needs four entries for YOU to be able to run them.
That makes me mad.
And I like it at for.
Cause needing 10 entries to run like vhr is just plain annoying -.-

** and just nptcied Nickel posted before me so she basically said everything i wanted to say xDD
No one is getting in trouble for things they've done in the past. We aren't going to go back before yesterday, when admin1 and admin2 decided this, and warn people or even look at those events. You aren't in trouble.

There are a lot of things on this game that have been that way since Nef started the game. Lots of glitches, bad coding, such as misspellings, pages not working correctly, help files out of date, breeding kennels not giving the stat bonuses, etc, etc, so on and so forth. This is just one of them that's going to be fixed.

Since admin1 and admin2 now know about it, (they didn't before, so couldn't tell you it was glitch) and have now deemed it a glitch, if from this point on, you run an event with just four dogs, or anything less than 10 dogs, you will be exploiting a glitch.

-.-
you might want to tell people on vp that like on the home page thing.
Since not everyone gets on the forums.
I personally like the glitch .
And it'll take forever for us to event our dogs.
