Drawing 0.0

edited November 2010 in Vent
Ok, so everything is going fine when I draw my horses except I cannot draw the legs or the ears. My sketchbook is full of stuff like this, it is really bothering me. The bodies I am so freakin proud of except when I draw the legs they look like noodles. Anyone have any tips for me? I will upload a few pictures and you can see what I mean.

  • Practice, practice, and more practice!
You can always look up tutorials to help you, but the best way to get better is to just stick with it and practice!
^.^

  • Ah, no kidding. XD

Since I have been practicing with my bodies they are turning out amazing from following someones advice.

Coaster do you draw? I think you do but I just forgot.
  • I have no advice, but I can say you're not alone.
When I draw horses it's the eyes and necks that are the problems for me.
And with dogs I can't draw feet, legs, and depending on the breed, the muzzle.

Yep, I do lots of drawing. ^.^
And I'm all self taught from practice, I can PM you some comparison pics just from working on the same drawing over time. (if I can find the links lol)

Eyes are definitely difficult, depending on the angle for me.
Dogs I just fail at, horses I've got a better chance.
  • Haha I'm like Coaster. I'm self taught on drawing too.. I'm terrible at horse legs as well. It takes me hours to get them right xD I'm best with cartoon drawings xD
  • If you want a good book recommendation then I suggest this: <a href="http://store.doverpublications.com/0486274268.html"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://store.doverpublications.com/0486274268.html

;

I started with horses, and used to be really good at them, until I moved on to other things. This book was, and is still my go to guide for horses, even though it's fallen apart from constant use over the 10 years or so that I've had it. It has other animals in it as well, but the horse section is the most detailed in my opinion. Also, It doesn't have a a ton of steps or instructions(it's not one of those "Step 1: Draw a circle..." books), but it has lots of hand drawn detail shots and breakdowns to really show you how the bones and muscles work. Basically speaking, it's less like an instruction book, and more like a reference book.
I'm done with VP. I'll just be around until I get all my dogs and lines placed in good hands. If you want to contact me, please do so through deviantART.
