That pleco is pretty. He looks like a common to me... though I'm not too versed in the pleco world. I rescued a 10 inch common from a 10 gallon with two inches of water in it and seven guppies and a clown loach. I adopted them out and now that poor pleco has room to roam. He's in a 55 gallon with two other fish.

Love the first dog. Gorgeous!! You have some lovely pets. Keep up the good work. Oh and Velcro looks like Paxton - a cat that was abandoned at the my animal shelter. He was adopted last week! Yay!
Thanks for saving a pleco. I hate how so many people use them as tools, and then get rid of them with not though once they are too big to fit in a small tank.

Bayou is one of the plecos grouped into the term "common pleco." He should be maxed out in size for his particular species. He's a rescue from a pet store. Was in a tank that looked like a 20 gallon, with about 10 other plecos of various size(all over 5 inches) that were eating him. I traded a hormonally homicidal goldfish for him. The lady at the pet store wasn't happy to get him into a bag....and water went everywhere....

Yay for adoption!

Wow, you have a lot of pets, and a large variety too. I don't think I ever seen someone with dogs, cats, rats, birds, fish, and lizards. Beautiful pets by the way, I really love the second dog's cute little face!

I need to get new pics of Prince, but he's fat at the moment. lol.
Maybe tomorrow, even though he could use a bath.

Birds are great, but I honestly don't think I'll ever own another, or at least not another parrot. I feel bad about Kermit, because he does not like people, and does not get a lot of attention, but I buy him new toys and stuff all the time in hopes it helps. If I ever have to leave for university, then he might have to find a new home, because he's the only animal I don't trust my mother with. It's somethings that's been bothering me for year now, and I still need to do a lot more thinking about the idea of it.

I had a similar worry about my Cockatiel for a couple of years. He doesn't really like other people much, and I was afraid I would need to find a new home for him if I had to leave for university. Luckily, we have two great universities in my town, so I probably won't need to go anywhere. It's disturbing how many people just think of birds as disposable pets and give little regard to their welfare. At least you're taking good care of Kermit

Hehe, Prince has such a lovely smile. He looks so happy and cuddly ^___^

There is only 1 university near by that is worth going to, and it's still about a 30-45 minute drive. As long as I can go to that one(it's not hard to get into), he'll be good until I need to transfer to get a masters or doctorates, which will require me to leave home. So he's good for another 2-4 years, hopefully.

Honestly it's disturbing how many people find animals, not just birds, disposable. I have nothing against having to find an animal a new home when necessary, but it's so sad when people just don't care about what the animal might go through with such a transition, especially something as sensitive as a bird. When I had to re-home a dog that just wasn't right for my family, I had anxiety and nightmares for 2 weeks until she was with her new family, which turned out to be a much better match for her than my family was. Heck, I nearly cried just trying to talk to my mother about the possibility of having to re-home Kermit in the future. I don't want anything to happen to him, and it's frightening not knowing what he could possibly go through once out of my hands.

I know I already made a vent about this, but I thought I should put it here too. Kermit was found dead this morning. I have no idea what happened to him, and it's really making me feel miserable.

I really am very, very sorry to hear that, Sushi.

When one of my birds died I was still crying over him weeks afterwards. My boy was a few years old when we got him, and had a few things wrong with him. In the end he had psittacosis and fatty liver, then he broke one of his legs somehow and the stress on his body was just too much. We spent about $1000 on trips to the vet but nothing could make him better.

I highly doubt that this is going to help console you about Kermit, but at least it doesn't sound like he suffered for very long. I wish birds weren't so good at masking their sickness, sometimes it's almost impossible to tell that there's anything wrong.

I just can't believe it. We were talking about him just a little while ago, and now he's gone.

Thank you. I didn't think about it, but that does help. It seems like he went fast, so hopefully it wasn't painful for him.
I've often heard that birds were good at hiding when they were sick, and I definitely didn't notice anything wrong with him, even though I checked him every morning and night. I looked things up online, and the only thing I could find was that our Thanksgiving feast could have killed him if we were cooking with certain pans, but I asked my mother, and she said we didn't use Teflon pans, so I still have no idea what happened.
