Not bein conceited, but I haveto say a poem of mine that is published in the 2007-2008 poem book Excellence, called Special Place. This has to be my favorite, nt because I wrote it, but because it's the only poem that has ever had me so emotional I almost cry every time I read it. I'll type it out at the bottom. There is a place in Arkansas With a big waterfall The rushing water which falls over the rocks Is like the blood that runs through your veins When you fall in, it starts to move faster and faster until you can hardly breathe It's running so fast, you can't see when you hit the pond or your heart Everything stops You get caught up in a whirlwind of emotions And you start to sink farther and farther until... Until everything goes black And all of a sudden, you're back on he bank Watching the water rush over the rocks Then off the cliff into nowhere. I wrote it when I was in 7th grade for an English assignment (Vampy will remember this haha we hated that teacher) and she submitted it to some contest and it got published in that book. It's about my real grandfather and how he abandoned my dad and his siblings when they were little (He lives in Arkansas). It's saying that everything was rushing by so fast that is was tough for him to keep up and it finally hit rock bottom (The pond/heart) and he got caught in everything that was going on in his life and he was getting farther and farther into it and he didn't want that. he was cared. He realized he didn't want a family just then (Everything goes dark). So he leaves (back on the bank) and watches my dad and siblings grown up without him in their lives (Watching the water rush over the rocks and into nowhere) So yea.. thats why it effects me so much..
