I think they don't take them to the vet because they don't know a vet can do that. Meaning they don't know vets can have reptiles as patients.

I'm sure it's true in some cases, but a lot just end up being because reptile vets are expensive, and around here the reptiles aren't. It's cheaper to let the one you have die, and go buy a new one, then take your sick pet to the vet. it's sad.

I know someone who has one. >>; HDI just got one after 4 years of breeding. They are wanting 20k. IAMSOSADIAMPOOOOR

I know how you feel. Just wait a few years, and the price with drop insane amounts for these. In the meantime however .

Note: I do not claim to own any of these pictures, they are all copyright of their owners, and will be removed if requested
OMG the rainbow boa is so beautiful. The snake doesn't even look real, almost like something an artist would paint.

Ya, I know. They are real though, the store we got Kamodo at had one. Needless to say it wasn't there long. The iridescence they have comes from little ridges on their scales, they act like prisms and reflect light back in a rainbow.
Those ones come with everything built in. But I agree, it would be fun to build one ourselves, and a lot cheaper lol. I suppose it would be pretty easy to retrofit an old china cabinet or something, too.
update: Like a half an hour ago hubby got a message from Sophie's new owner. She was in fact gravid, and laid 10 eggs today. Now we just have to hope that there are no slugs lol.

I'm not sure, but I think the substrate is either coconut husk or crushed walnut shells, not sand.
I know. We have around 70 days until the babies hatch. I'm so excited lol. We'll be keeping one or two of the babies, depending on the morphs that show up in the clutch. The rest will be found good homes.
