• Thats awsome you ride in halter?
I used to ride in halter when I was horse riding, (western mainly,) I have done english riding when I was about 6 or 7, but after riding in a halter have gotten to use to ridding with loose reins D:.

Not usually but i didnt have a headstal tiny enough to fit Nova's head. I have before though. I have one horse who is more fun to ride bareback than anything. I generally ride him in a halter and clip on reins. I usually ride in western tack and ride with loose reins depending on the horse. Im still workin with loose reins with rosie but tawny works better loose.

I'm not sure if its where I went or not, but I was always told by the other riders there, its becuase the bit is on the horse's tongue the most sensitive part of the horse it makes them want to run from it? or something along them lines..

 • I dont believe that a bit (pun intended) The tounge is the most tender part in the horses mouth and if you use a bit correctly its an aid, not a means of making a horse run. A horse shouldnt have a reason to WANT to run away from a bit.
