Allie

I haven't updated you all on Allie in what seems like ages, so, what better why to start the New Year? I really need to get some new pictures of her. I only have a few that you haven't seen, but I promise to get more. Overall, she's been good. Turned 5 in November! This year's training has been very successful. We have conquered the fear aggression, something I never thought would happen! It's something we still continue to work on, but she is really enjoying socializing with other dogs. I know she's much happier being able to go on walks, out to the dog park, ect. She's having loads of fun with S&R, agility, and other activities. I'm sure it was depressing to always be in the house, doing nothing. She continues her volunteer job at the Children's Hospital. The happiness she brings to the children is priceless, and to be able to watch, is just amazing. :3

Here are the few pictures I have. I'll take more soon. Sorry for the low quality, my phone camera is difficult.

<a href="http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa333/PattethCakes/tn1.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa3 ... es/tn1.jpg -Caught stealing baby toys?! Bad, just bad. Such a thief.
<a href="http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa333/PattethCakes/tn.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa3 ... kes/tn.jpg -If you don't mind..nom nom nom.
<a href="http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa333/PattethCakes/tn2.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa3 ... es/tn2.jpg -Such a spazz, I can't get my dog to pose and wear something at the same time. Way too much to ask!
<a href="http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa333/PattethCakes/NantsingonyamabagithiBaba.jpg"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa3 ... hiBaba.jpg -My nephew is such an abuser! Atleast I found use for this picture, and used it as a siggy. Which, I must admit is pretty epic. Had to give her lots of love after that. She just looks so thrilled, right?

More pictures to come. :3

Also, please don't steal my pictures. ;.; I've had a big problem with this lately. I know my dog is adorable, but no stealing!

Here's Allie's <a href="http://alliesadventures.squarespace.com/"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">blog. Hopefully I'll keep it up to date and running okay. :3

  • For those of you posting on this thread: <a href="http://virtualpups.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=78171"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">viewtopic.php?f=29&t=78171
Here's an update!

I've obtained one of those handy wire cage muzzles, like Emme suggested. I'm really liking it. It wasn't long before she allowed me to put it on her. I introduced slowly, but the first time I tried to put it on, she started throwing all sorts of calming signals, so we took a few steps back. Eventually, got her to wear it around the house without a problem. A few days later, we moved to out back, wearing it. I've been talking to Simon's owner (the white dog who she attacked(or tried to)), he agreed to let them meet. I hired a friend, a trainer who is very skilled in the area of dog language and aggression. She's been doing great with her! We met up with Simon's owner at the park, rather than in the culdeac, where she attacked. Allie was wearing the muzzle, off leash, Simon was on leash. Allie was by my side, I told her not to move, she didn't. I cued her that she could slowly walk, she did. At first she was walking in an awkward, perhaps intimidating (to Simon) way. I told her "gentle", she started crawling along the ground. xD
She got to Simon, stiffed, and I told her to come back. I put her on the leash, took the muzzle off, and we walked around with them. She did fabulous! The next day, we met and did similar things, and eventually the two played (without leash or muzzle on either). There was one time Simon mounted on Allie (they're both fixed though), she didn't like that. She came over to me, we stopped, and continued walking. We've been working with them for several days now with more progress. Allie got uninterested in Simon after a while of being with him, so we went to the creek as a reward. We worked with other dogs, including Sandy's small tan mixed breed dog, her Boston Terrier, and Bull Terrier. Allie loved playing with Stoke, the Bull Terrier.

After a while of training with other dogs, we decided to switch it up, just so she could have a break. A few years ago, I taught her to do "a series of three". I totally forgot about it, but Sandy cued "Go home, get Sara, come back." It didn't take long for her to remember, so within five minutes, she had gone home, gotten Sarah and came back. ^.^ I was tickled that she remembered. We went to the lake where she met a Great Dane friend, they played for a while. Then we met up there with my friend's six Labs. >:D It was less chaotic than I thought. Later that night, Allie got some icecream (of yes!). So, overall, everything has been very good so far. I'll continue to update you all. I have pictures too, that I'll add.
  • Congrats on all the progress Patty!! Sounds like it can only get better from here.

• I'm happy to hear she's doing well :)
    (SPIDERS!)
  • So far so good. I've tried to stay calm, I still freak out when anyone opens the door. But, it's getting better.

There are about three kids, who are maybe 5+, who keep going through our yard. They'll jump the fence, or just peek over sometime. My main concern is the leaving our gate unlocked/open. I really can't have children trotting through my backyard, and going through my fence. It's crazy enough as it is with people in our own household, opening doors. Plus my eight year old nephew literally opens the door as wide as it goes. He'll stay out for a second, and then the door with open less than a minute later. I've ended up having to lock the door so he doesn't come back through. -.-
If those kids leave my gate open.. ;.;
I'm really not scared to confront these kids, whether it's in a harsh way or not. I just have to get the point across- there's no going through our yard. You don't just go through someone's yard! Sure, they're kids, but they're old enough to know not to. Once I figure out who their parents are.. o.O
  • :3 I was tempted to make Allie a <a href="http://alliesadventures.squarespace.com/"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">blog, so I did. She's had one before, but I don't know what happened to it.

Hopefully I'll manage to keep this one up to date and running correctly. xD

I'll add new pictures tonight if my computer allows.
