Praising myself. I deserve it.

These past few days have been hard and stressing. Its a long story and a close friend of mine knows a part of it. It's been hard but out of all the hard things in my life recently I have managed to do something that has made me proud of myself!

Next Saturday is my birthday and a band clinic and I play clarinet. I have to do 5 scales, plus my Chromatic, and a prepared peice, and Sight read.
Wel;l I know all my 5 scales FULL range going up to third octave! Which has been alot of work and I have chromatic scale to second octave and I know my prepared peice by heart!
Yesterday and today I have played for my band director, and she has praised me slightly and gave me some tips to improve myself. But as I was walking to my bus today I was..um.. to say the least about to cry..haha. And my other band teacher stopped me and praised me about being the ONLY student in the ENTIRE band to know my scales full range ect. And how my head band director had been BRAGGING on me ALL day long! And my head band director NEVER brags on anyone! But yet she bragged on me ALL day about my scales and my progress and how great I am doing. And though they might not realize it but after how rough things have been it means alot to me and I am sooo proud of myself because I have worked sooo hard to get to where I am. I am proud and glad to prove I am worthy to be part of the band, because when things get hectic I get scatter brained but I have truly applied myself to this one goal and I have managed to ignore the hectic and trouhbling things going on in my life currently. But I have one thing to be happy about and be grateful!

Go Clarinets!

 • Heh heh. Congrats! Our one Clarinet player dropped out this year, so we don't have any clarinets anymore. It's mostly Saxophones (including me) and if I'm lucky, I can get that thing up the top of a B flat scale. It's very squeaky..

 • I know nothing about music, but good job! Sounds like me and horses. I worked so hard to get where I am and am proud of me and my horses. And yet it seems like basically everyone I know (including alot of my BFF's) that does horses just gets everything handed to them. I think its good to work for something, then you don't wanna quit cause you came so far.
/end of pep talk/rant. XP

 • Rawr! there is a Sax! :P

We have WAY to many clarinets in my band! But I am proud to say I am always 1st or 2nd chair! Normally 1st, but I lost my 1st chair when I got sick. So know I sit 2nd chair. But I have my mind set on making clinic, and no matter how hard it is to make band clinic but I will make it! :P Plus that day I will have my Birthday luck!

 • :O I play the clarinet too! Well, used to XD I stoped due to the cost, though I was very good at it :P I was more of a beginier then anything. I didn't get any grades though due to my shyness! You should be way pride of yourself! I would have never ever been able to get into a band. GO CLARINETS! Woot!

 • Haha, when getting our instruments, we had to give two choices just in case. Most of the Saxophone's seconds choices were Clarinet. I'm not too bad, I've certainly improved over the years. But I don't work at it very much, it is rare I practice.

I'd love to be in jazz band, though. I just don't want to donate my Friday's to it.. XD

 • Hah, that's awesome! I have band twice a week for a half hour. XD Our school doesn't take the band very seriously. Marching band is more intense, but I can't remember music for the life of me. Forget march in circles, too! D:

 • My school's band is VERY serious!
We are the best in our area and we only score superior in our clinics and test and all of that xD
So we pride ourselves in it. WOW only twice a week?
I have always taken it atleast every day. But know I take it twice... hmm I wonder what I would do with my time outside of band?
