We're...moving?

edited January 2012 in Vent
My parents just informed me that we're moving. I've never moved before, I've grown up on this farm and it's all I know.
Obviously I'll still get to keep my horses and dogs and whatnot, but it's going to be so weird not living in the only place I've known. This whole move isn't all bad though...we're moving to another farm but I'll still get to got to the same school and it's actually going to help with my family's financial issue.
My dad is going to start a boarding business on the new farm. It has a barn that is basically an isle of stalls with a tack room and the house is just behind it. It also has a medium grass outdoor arena and a small indoor one. It isn't as much land as we have now but still a lot of acreage.
It's doing to be different, but I'm excited to have boarders! It will be nice for my horses to have others to interact with.
I'm nervous but not scared because I won't be leaving my friends and whatnot.

Any advice?

  • It sounds like this is gonna be a good opportunity for you! And you dont see upset about it so just enjoy likes experiences and consider it a new journey. Ive lived in the same place my whole life but im old enough now to where im actually looking into moving in the next two years or so and while im excited about it i know that its good practice for the future for when i cant always stay in my "Comfort zone"

I'm excited but nervous. I'm also moving out on my own in the next two years, but I feel more nervous about moving to a new farm than I think I will going to college.
It will certainly be an adventure xD

  • I've moved like 5 times. -_- Good but bad. Bad cause I now live in a town (granted a town of 128 people xD) but good cause I'm closer to Babydoll and can ride more. Plus I met my best friend when I moved here.
I think it will be sad to leave your home, but fun to have a boarding facility! You could meet alot of new horse people and their horses! You might even make a new best friend. (:

  • I'm moving too! We can be moving buddies! :D
  • Moving isn't so bad. :3 I've lived in 21 different houses in my life, so I've never known a true 'home' for more than a year. The longest we've ever lived anywhere is 3 years. It will take some getting used to, because you've been in one place for so long, but anywhere can feel like home. At least you'll still be with your family and all of your animals and you aren't moving schools or anything, all of those things make it easier.

  • I just got my own land finally, I'm not moving an inch from this place for the next sixty years atleast. xD Good luck though. Vampys right, its just another adventure. Go explore. xD
Goodbye old VP, hello disaster. xD
  • At least you are in the same area.
I've moved back & forth between 2 states a good 7 times, leaving behind family, pets, friends, etc.
I hate moving & having to start over, I really have no advice because well, I hate moving. XD
But, it sounds like a really good opportunity for your family.
  • I've moved 3 times in 3 years yet lived in the one house all my life. Psshyeah I'm normal x]

I found that the most stressful thing about moving is when you have to pack, and you realise that you've got so much crap and you have to chuck most of it out... it's hard.
Just start packing early, have a garbage bin nearby and don't hesitate to throw something away.

As for when you reach the new house, actually unpack, not just pull things out as you need them.
You'll feel much more comfortable when you are surrounded by your posessions.

And lastly; go exploring!
So what if you feel like a little kid or your parents disapprove, you'll feel better when you know as much as possible about where you are ;)

Good luck!
  • Thanks for reassuring me everyone :) I feel much better about it. I'm still nervous but I know it could be much worse.
