Just Great.

I picked up my mom's iPhone today, and found it on google. The words in the search box were:<br>"What would cause low blood pressure"<br><br>Great, just what I need. She has low blood pressure, and hasn't told me, and chances are hasn't gone to the doctor. My mom means everything to me.. If anything ever happened to her, I dunno where I'd be. I never met my real dad, so god knows where he is, and without my mom, I hopefully wouldn't go to my step dad. I'd probably end up in a whole different school system with my aunt. I'm freaking out now, and I want to say something to her, but.. It's hard. "Hey, mum! I was on your phone today.. and found such and such." I've learned be hard way to NEVER google medical problems, because most of the time you get a worst case scenario. My mom is exactly the type of person that would google it, though, heck, if we were on vacation, she'd rather google a restaurant's menu than go down to the hotel lobby and grab one! Forget going to the doctors for low blood pressure.

  • Perhaps she was looking it up for some other reason. I know I tend to look up anything that sounds interesting or I don't know about. If she hasn't been to a doctor, how would she know she has low blood pressure?

  • I have low blood pressure from vasovagal syncope, and, while it's annoying, low blood pressure really isn't that big of a deal. People with it just need to avoid tons of stairs or other situations where falling would be dangerous. I've been told by every doctor I've talked to about my low blood pressure that it's really nothing to worry about, and won't cause anything worse than some dizziness and sometimes a headache afterward. As long as she can sit or lay down if she feels lightheaded or dizzy it shouldn't be dangerous. Treatments range from drinking more water and eating salty foods to steroids to boost blood volume to meds like beta blockers (if the problems is a vasovagal one) to pacemakers(which are only used in extremely severe cases). It's also possible she could just be dehydrated, dehydration can cause low blood pressure.
