Suggestion for sponsor rescue kennels

As a sponsor rescue, I see a ton of novices that breed a bunch of dogs that will never be useful and those dogs just end up in rescue kennels and never end up being bought. Obviously the first suggestion is that novices not breed mutts and other low stated dogs that can't be used, BUT that won't happen any time soon. Mostly because they don't know what they're doing or because they just want quick money. Well for sponsor rescues: My suggestion to help everyone on the game is to neuter and then retire or release those dogs that you rescue with low stats instead of just circulating them again. Keep the good, high stated dogs for low prices in your rescue because that is what novices are going to buy and breed. Also, keep gifties rare!!! Don't neuter them, but don't sell them for a low price either! Here's what I do: For Siberians and other WAY over bred breeds, I neuter and release/retire any under 6x4 or 7x4. We dont need any more low stated ones being bred since we have tons of 10x4's. Other breeds that aren't rare (over 100 of the breed and have reached at least 5x4) I neuter and then release/retire any under 4x4. Keep in mind that novices buy these dogs because they are cheap and they can breed them to get money. If they breed better stated dogs, they will get more money and there will be less crappy dogs. So do your part as a sponsor and filter your dogs!

 • Most sponsor already do this and a vp cleanse project runs every so often where volunteers go around retire/releasing as many low quality pups as they can, also mutts arent always the problem ive seen some excelent mutts with fantastic stats become star eventers ,and many are bred for this purpose by sponsor players for eventing a few vo players hae tried to set up no ixe education programs but until the beta gets mixed with the current vp those progams arent in place .when i come across new vp palyers i welcome them and offer to help them as well as give advice ,mostsponsors do that as well, and theres always th forums for them to leqrns from :)

 • As a rescue myself I don't release and retire low statted dogs, instead I neuter most of the dogs (around 7x4s and over I keep intact and imports), as I don't have the time to retire/release all the dogs in my kennel, it would take forever, due to my internet having issues as it is. It's not all about the low stats for breeding it's not great, but some eventing dogs can be made from the lower statted dogs.

Most rescues either release and retire low statted dogs, or like me just neuter them, that way badly statted dogs don't get bred but can be used for eventing

 • I also neuter and release/retire low stat dogs, as well as poorly trained dogs that are unlikely to be bought. I only keep dogs 8x4 or better, or 5x4 or better if they're proven eventers. I also keep imports and dogs with really high a/c that could be good show dogs. If I end up with a dog that is in between releasing age and retiring age, I neuter it and put it up for adoption. I have a novice player that I pay to adopt those dogs and age them into retirement. Maybe you can do something like that, Tiger?

For that matter, any and all rescues with dogs they don't want can try this idea. There are plenty of novices in need of quick easy money, so instead of having them adopt low-stat dogs and breed them to try to sell the pups (which of course won't sell and some novices end up leaving the game for lack of vpc) they can make money by improving the general vp stock.

This is great for everybody. I pay 1k per dog. So the novice gets usually 600-1000 vpc (depending on how many turns it takes to retire the dog) for each dog adopted and retired. I get the other 1500vpc from the adoption donation which makes it worthwhile to put my effort into adopting unwanted dogs, and there are less low-stat dogs around for new players to get stuck with. If a novice were to do something like this for one rescue, he/she would have more than enough to buy some good dogs to breed and event.
