How is it that people on here have millions of VPC?

edited September 2013 in General Discussion
I'm just curious. How do people on here end up with like 30 million or more vpc? I'm struggling to get back up to only 1 million vpc (that someone originally generously gave me when I was in debt) after I foolishly spent a huge chunk of it on what I didn't realize at the time were poorly stated and as a result worthless dogs. I thought that 10x4 and 9x4 dogs would make money, but nobody seems to want even the 9x4s or 10x4s that I've tried to sell. So,my question is, how the heck do you make money on this game, especially millions? It baffles me.

 • One great way for Novices to make money is to neuter and release/retire dogs. When I was low on money, I spent multiple hours rescuing poor statted dogs and neutering them for money, then releasing them. It not only benefits the game by getting rid of those poorly statted dogs, but it earns 500 VPC per dog you neuter. It takes quite a bit of time, but the outcomes are wonderful!

Another great way to earn money is by showing your dogs. It doesn't take as much patience as selling dogs, and if you enter them in the right events, you'll earn money at a very high rate. I've made tens of millions of cash from showing my pups! For more info on that, I'd recommend asking your guide, posting in the NHP (that way you'll get more answers) or messaging me. Showing is my specialty here on the game. ;)

If you're interested in additional ways to earn money, posting in the group is the best way to go. Everybody has their own methods and that way you'll get an input from everybody. There are many, many ways to earn money on the game, just don't be afraid to ask!
I think they change it to where retiring dogs doesn't give you money because I bought dogs that were too old to be released so I had to retire them. I neutered them before I retired them and I didn't get any money from it even when I retired them right after. However, I do get money from neutering and releasing dogs, but there aren't many dogs young enough to be released for sale for under 500vpc. The rescue dogs don't count because they're worth more than you get from neutering because you have to give 2,000 in addition the 250. And most of the events cost me more to enter than my dogs end up winning. I entered an event for 1,000 and my dog came in 5th and only earned 250 so I didn't even get back the cost of the event.

However, once you get it down, it's easy as pie! Right now, I have nearly 200million and nearly all of that is from art or selling dogs. You don't have to be a sponsor to make tons of VPC.
Also, finding a group of Vpians that are competitive in showing is a good way start getting more income. I've been into racing greyhounds and have been breeding really high speeds. Other players want to compete with me so they'll want to use my dogs to breed or even want to buy the dogs for a lot of money.
It all just depends on what your interests are on VP :) There are plenty of ways to make money

 • As said above, everything takes time and patience.
I've been playing for 7 or so years now, and I am always up and down the 100mil-200mil mark.
BUT. I do have some great show dogs that have gotten me there (earning 10-20mil per dog!) as well as Sponsor Training for the public, and at one point I delved into the world of graphics and layout making and made some cash that way.
It's also about luck, I honestly can't imagine how hard it would be in the current VP economy to make as much money as the long-time sponsors have, as everything is so pricey right now.
I'd be happy to give you one of my un-used show dogs, he is already trained and has been evented a bit so far, just let me know if you are interested and that you are keen to stick around, some novices get deterred as they are unable to make a way in the community and just up and go. I hate seeing that happen.
welcome to VP and I hope you stick around! xD

Coaster; how's your greyhound speed going? beaten my record yet? ;)

 • Like Sim said: time and patience are also key.
It took us YEARS to get that amount of VPC and it took a lot of work ^.^ but it CAN be done!
As mentioned - it also depends on the VPC economy which fluctuates just like a real life economy. Prices rise and fall over time and sometimes when the economy is down you'll find it much harder to make VPC.

Sim - still stuck! Can't beat your record! Haha but I'm still proud for matching it!
I know, but I neutered them and still don't get any money for it. I don't get the money until I release the dogs I've neutered. If they didn't change it, maybe it's just a glitch in my account that I have to release the dogs I've neutered first to get the money?

Hmmm....I guess I'll have to try buying a rescue dog again. I could've sworn more than just 250 was taken away from my account for each rescue dog I've bought.

The thing is, I have a very specific niche that I'm sure not many people are interested in and thus probably don't have many show of these specific breeds that they could donate. I'm focusing my attention on hybrid breeds such as Saarloos Wolfdogs, Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs, Wolf Hybrids, Thai Bangkaew Dogs which are part jackal, etc.

 • Eventing is a GREAT way to go about it! Not only do you get money for SHOWING the dog but you can either sell the dog for a LOT later (with a higher show level) or can put them up for stud for a good chunk of money. I have multiple international studs who get used pretty often who won 1-8 mil in their show careers then went on to be studs at 200k a pop and all have been used multiple times. As well as selling puppies I breed from them and my 10x4 international females. A good chunk of my money has come from selling puppies. I once sold a 10 pup litter of 10x4 aussies for 5 mil a piece. They had 3 generations of 10x4 internationals in their pedigree and quite a few went on to be 10x4 internationals themselves
I tried it again. I neutered some dogs and refreshed the page and didn't have any extra money. It wasn't until I also released the dogs I neutered that the money appeared in my account. I don't get money for neutering the dogs. I only get money for releasing them after I've neutered them. Also, I tried retiring some older dogs that I had neutered already and no money appeared in my account from either when I neutered them or when I retired them,so I'm definitely not making any money off of neutering and retiring dogs. You were right about the rescue dogs only being 250 though. It turns out I hadn't refreshed my page. Lol. XD I did make 100,000 vpc on neutering and releasing rescue dogs. But then I spent the majority of it buying 2 good quality dogs of breeds I wanted because they were 50,000 each and now I only have like 10,000 vpc in my account. *Sigh* Why do all the good quality dogs have to be so expensive? How is a new player ever suppose to afford any good dogs without going into debt? I see a dog I like in one of your kennels, but I'm not sure if you're willing to donate or sell that particular dog. Should I pm you? Oh and I look forward to the updates. Any progress on adding events to the newbie club?

You have to work for it, like everyone else has. You can't have it handed to you on a plate. Everyone starts out with the same amount of money, and some make it on their own. Or some are lucky enough to come across existing players that are happy to lend a hand to those that seem like they genuinely want to try get somewhere in the game. If people come across all needy, demanding or plain right rude, then they are likely to offend a lot of people and they won't get the help. So just be careful =)

A number of people join already knowing someone in the game, so get a helping hand that way. But the community, when they want to be, are really happy to help out anyone - be it a player returning from a break, a new person they don't know at all, or even a currently active player.

And good quality dogs are expensive because other players have spent the time getting the dogs that good, so they want a good return for the effort they have put into the dog. Just like in real life - the best computer, fastest car, quality clothing, top show horses, winning dogs costs more because more effort, time, thought has been put into the final product.

 • An anonymous player just sent me a lot of money. It's so much I don't even know how to count it because it's too many digits. I now have 35010215 vpc. Can someone tell me how much that is in words please? Is it millions or billions, etc.?
