Why do my imports have colors that aren't breed colors?

edited October 2013 in Questions/Support
Why do most of my imports have colors that aren't breed colors?

For example, my Sulimov Dog imports are

Fawn:
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471731"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471731

Brindle:
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471732"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471732

Neither of those colors are breed colors of a Sulimov Dog,not even rare breed colors.
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/help/breeds.php?breed=539"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/help/breeds.php?breed=539

Granted,my other 2 imports are Tricolored, which is a correct breed color though.

My Tamaskans are:

Brindle:
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471744"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471744

White:
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471745"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471745

Salt&Pepper:
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471750"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471750

None of those 3 colors are breed colors.
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/help/breeds.php?breed=524"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/help/breeds.php?breed=524

My Thai Bangkaew are:

Gray:
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471766"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471766

White:
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471767"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471767

Neither of those are breed colors.
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/help/breeds.php?breed=275"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/help/breeds.php?breed=275

My Kunming Dogs are:

Black:
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471768"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471768
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471770"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471770
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471771"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471771

Tri-colored:
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471769"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471769

Neither of those colors are breed colors.
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/help/breeds.php?breed=459"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/help/breeds.php?breed=459

My American Tundra Shepherds are:

Brindle:
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471772"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471772

Black&White:
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471773"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471773

Gray:
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471774"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471774

None of those are breed colors.
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/help/breeds.php?breed=419"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/help/breeds.php?breed=419

My Saarloos Wolfdogs are:

Black&White:
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471817"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471817

Tri-colored:
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471818"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471818

Black:
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471819"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2471819

None of those are breed colors either.
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/help/breeds.php?breed=188"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/help/breeds.php?breed=188

So,out of 19 imports, only 2 are correct breed colors. That means I have to change the color of possibly up to 17 dogs if I want to make them all correct colors which will be 20k each,so I'll have to spend 340k total just to be able to properly use most of my imports. Is this on purpose or is it a glitch?:/

 • I'm not exactly sure why the imports are not correct breed colors, but you certainly do not have to pay to change their colors. As you breed them, they start coming out with correct colors. For example, take this Border Collie import,
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2293505"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2293505

His color is brindle, not a normal BC color. However, look at his two pups.
This one was blue merle, a correct color,
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2293690"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2293690

While another was brindle, like it's sire,
<a href="http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2337009"; target="_blank" class="bb-url">http://virtualpups.com/index.php?r=dog/view&id=2337009

Eventually the import colors will just be bred out of the line. If you wanted correct colors you'd just select puppies without the import colors.

 • That's a good question. It's not just imports, occasionally I'll breed a dog with a random color not in its breed standard. But like Frost said, you definitely don't have to change the colors to use the dogs. Unless it really just bothers you for some reason... Colors don't matter that much in this game anyway unless they're gifties

 • When imports are created, they come from 1 dog code with some variables so the dogs don't have all the same stats. It's not a glitch, but neither is it purposeful that the public breeds come different colors. It just happens that way. The colors on a public breed simply aren't important to the game since they don't impact anything in the game code. Some players may even enjoy having dogs that aren't breed standard or are "special".

 • Ok. That makes sense. Thank you guys for the explainations. Since I now know their offspring come out with the right colors, I'm not worried about that anymore since I don't have to spend all that money to change the colors to get correctly colored offspring. I was just panicking when I thought all my pups would be the wrong colors and the only way I could get right colored pups would be to do the color change and since I know now that that is not the only way, I'm ok. Lol. XD
