Make sure you are using the dryer on a cool setting. The normal heat from a dryer is often too hot for dogs, so could burn him.

Have you tried adjusting the brightness of your screen? I find the stars appear a deep yellow to me, almost a gold. I find they stand out quite well against the pale yellow background.
