I have veterinary papers, but those are the only papers. We got him from a friend as a puppy, so nothing official.

I went through the same thing when I was 7, so I know how it feels. Just cut them some slack and be the best, most understanding daughter you can be. Everything will work-out.

250 sounds like an extremely reasonable number. Breeding would play a much bigger role that way, as well as training.
