or make a duplicate of the first layer, desaturate it then take the history brush and paint where you want it to be normal. thats what it looks like to me.

I DO I DO!!! In my opinion I would make a new layer and put the layer to be coloured in the top layer and desaturate the bottom layer. I haven't tried it but it may work
