It does look like a tick. I'm thinking she might have been bitten, you should call a vet a first and see what they say and then if it's anything serious take her to the vet.

Sounds like seperation anxiety, I would try to stay with him/her as much as possible at first and slowly leave him home alone, get toys like kongs, bones, etc. to keep him occupied.
