It does look like a tick. I'm thinking she might have been bitten, you should call a vet a first and see what they say and then if it's anything serious take her to the vet.

Actually, if you look online or any book it says they are related to racoons, skunks, and weasels. x3 I can't remember where I saw it, I think it was WWF, but they are practically in their own group.

lol. It's a deffinant speration anxiety case. Do you only keep him in the crate at night? Also talk to your vet, I believe they have medication for it.

Sounds like seperation anxiety, I would try to stay with him/her as much as possible at first and slowly leave him home alone, get toys like kongs, bones, etc. to keep him occupied. -edit- How do you greet him when you come home?
