Aww...lol. I -love- to spray them with fly spray until they fall to the ground. Then I just spray them till they are dead. It's actually really, really fun. Especially if you are bored.

We get horse flies all the time over the Summer. I hate those enormous things. XD

Lol. What REALLY bugs me is when they get those little dots of blood on their legs from the fly bites. I can not stand those! XD

I kind of know exactly what you are going through. My parents used to be the same, which is why they are getting a divorce. O.o

Tiny, no matter what discipline you ride in, pretty much the same rules apply as to safety. I ride english, too, but it doesn't mean there are different rules as to training process (horse learning properly), and disciplinary measures of being safe.
