Depends if it has a transparent background.. saving as PNG is most easy for transparency I found

You must hit ctrl + l to bring up layers. Make you lines and then make a layer UNDER the lines and color.

Thank you Zen! I use Gimp. It is free to download. It took me a while to convert from highschool because I use Photoshop. But I like Gimp now that I am used to it.
