I do the same for flickr, and I also use sxc.hu
I don't manip, but I use pictures as references for drawing...I wouldn't want to get into a mess when someone is like 'You copied this copyrighted photo! :O' So I just use stock free. Safe.
Save the image as a .PNG or another better-quality file type, so that you don't have the fuzziness in the striped backround. Right now I'm guessing you have it saved as a .JPG file, which makes the quality turn out fuzzy.
