They were more than likely trying to scam you. You gave them the codes then they 'switch breeds' and assuming you HAD paid them back, they have the codes for a now free(and stolen) layout.

No problem! Look at it as sketching on a smaller piece of paper. You're just going to need shorter strokes. It might take a little to get the hang of, since short on the tablet may not be as short on the screen, but you'll be fine. =]
